Hello & Welcome to Wellingborough URC

Wellingborough URC has played a significant part in the life of Wellingborough and is affectionately known within the local community has either  ‘The Pork Pie Church’, due to it’s shape or ‘The Congo’ for it’s Congregational background. But for us, we simply know it as High St!

However, it isn’t the name or shape of the building, it’s the people who make the church what it was, what it is today and what it will become.

Therefore, we hope you will spend a few minutes browsing our website and find it a gateway to discover enough about us to want to know more.

Elders, Members and Congregation.

Coronavirus (COVID19) Update

Dear Friends

These are unprecedented times and a challenge for us all in so many ways.

We appreciate that worship and fellowship is an important aspect of our faith and a significant highlight of the week for many.

In the current situation it is thought right that we follow the guidelines from the National Church and so with immediate effect we will be suspending public acts of worship, physical meetings and other church activities. This is in line with other churches, including the Church of England.

Whilst this is a sad decision, we believe it is the right one as we seek to play our part in limiting the impact of the virus and keeping people safe.

Over the coming weeks we will do our very best to keep a sense of community. We will strive to care for one another wherever possible without physical contact, via telephone, email or social media.
Although we will be unable to hold worship within our buildings there are several opportunities to take part in acts of worship.

These include:
Sunday morning service – BBC1 @ 11.45am
Sunday Worship – BBC Radio 4 @ 8:10am (92-95FM or 103-105FM)
Sunday Morning – BBC Radio Northampton (104.2 or 103.6 FM)

Full services will be available from the URC's Daily Devotions website each Sunday. (Sign up is required)

A comprehensive list of churches offering live streamed services, sermons as podcasts, recorded services on YouTube, audio files of services and sermons and other resources has now been published.

In addition to the suspension of church activities we have regrettably taken the decision to suspend all activity at Salem Hall. All groups have been made aware of this decision and hope they understand the situation.

About the URC

“Called to be God’s people, transformed by the Gospel, making a difference in today’s world. This is the United Reformed Church.

The United Reformed Church combines its commitment to the Reformed tradition with a passionate belief that all God's people should be one.

What is Church Membership?

Becoming a church member means becoming a recognised part of the world-wide family of Christians. This is the community of all those who believe in God. Being part of this family encourages us in our faith as we work together to show God’s love and mercy to the world.

Stepwise

Stepwise, the United Reformed Church’s intergenerational discipleship programme became available on a phased basis from September 2018.

Stepwise aims to deepen discipleship and encourage Christian confidence in today’s world. Taking seriously the many and varied settings in which believers find themselves at work, play and involved in community life.

Stepwise is based around five broad subject streams, Faith-filled life, Faith-fuelled leadership, Faith-filled confidence, Faith-filled community and Faith-filled worship.

The programme provides participants with a combination of learning opportunities through project-based activities, online materials and support from a mentor.
